Agra Weaving

I also visited a place that did weavings. This place showcased weavings done by people all over the region. Some of the carpets were inspired (or copies) of famous tapestries and weavings. Others had a much more modern flair. Natural dyes were used to color the Kashimiri wool (as well as some silk) yarn. On the lower level several young men were designing plans for new carpets, employing a grid to aid in design. One was busy applying poster paint to a rendition of “The Last Supper,” copied from a postcard. In another room a young man painstakingly separated each strand on the front of the weaving, removing the “fuzzies” present during the weaving process.
