Birds of Pulikat Lake

Once out on the lake, flecks of white appeared in the distance – both in the sky and in the shallow waters. Egrets were the most populous birds, followed by herons. A few Eurasian Curlews were also spotted, distinguished by their long, narrow curved beaks. Cormorants spread out their wings, airing our their feathers in the morning sun. Those with binoculars got a look at a flock of painted storks, something our boat driver didn’t expect to happen. Due to the shallowness of the water we were unable to get closer, so we had to be satisfied with the views through lenses.
