Before entering the temple for the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival, everyone had to remove their footwear. Considering the large numbers of people at the event, that's a lot of sandals! To help with the process, numbers were written on the sole of the shoes. Even at that, it must have been a challenge finding your sandals afterwards. Before entering the temple for the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival, everyone had to remove their footwear. Considering the large numbers of people at the event, that's a lot of sandals! To help with the process, numbers were written on the sole of the shoes. Even at that, it must have been a challenge finding your sandals afterwards. These sandals all seem to have flat bottoms to make the writing easier. Wouldn't do well with my tire-soled sandals!
